What is GEO?
GEO stands for generative engine optimisation. Search engines show a list of links; AI assistants such as ChatGPT, Perplexity and Google's AI Overviews write one answer and name a few businesses in it.
They build that answer from websites and listings they can read and trust. GEO means making sure yours is one of them: clear facts about what you do, where and for whom, written so a machine can understand it, and mentioned on other trusted sites.
Someone in Dubai asks ChatGPT: "Which dental clinics near Jumeirah do teeth whitening on Saturdays?" The assistant names clinics whose websites clearly state the service, the area and the opening hours, and that are mentioned elsewhere. If your site only says "quality dental care", you are left out of the answer.
